Who am I?

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my website. I’m Meaghan the doula behind Mountain Mama Doula.

I have a bit of a long story when it comes to my pregnancies & birth stories. I have 3 kiddos- Alice, Reid & Jasper! We have been through ALOT. My husband and I welcomed our oldest Alice into the world in 2018 and boy that was a whirl wind. Once A was born she was brought to BC Childrens Hospital NICU and we had about a months long stay. She has a chromosome anomaly that we had no clue about before birth. From then on we were plunged into the world of parenting a medically complex kid with disabilities. After Alice, we had Reid at the start of 2020 and who would’ve guessed one month after he was born via-repeat C-section that the world would shut down. NOT US. That’s when Mountain Mama Doula was established. I did my courses through Doula Canada whipped right through them and then started on this wild journey of being a birth lover and advocate for families who want and need the support.

My last baby Jasper was born in 2022 and guess what?…. We got transferred to the NICU at BCCH again! This time it was only 1 week long but the most surreal thing that happened was we were placed in the same room we had his sister in 4 years ago. I have a complex family, I have a ton of knowledge about our health care system, and programs- probably more than anyone really wants to know! But that helps me guide you through the birth & postpartum systems. I am an advocate for the birth you desire whether that is at home in a birth pool with candles lit and soft music play- OR it’s in the hospital with an epidural and peanut ball.

I know birth can go the way we want it to, but it can also go in the total opposite direction and I’m there to help you navigate all the waters you’re about to cross the good, the beautiful, and the hard.

Testimonials

Meaghan is an extremely knowledgeable doula and always quick to respond to any questions I had during my pregnancy, labour and postpartum!

Meaghan showed up at the hospital right away during active labour and was right there helping me with comfortable positions, distracting me with conversation so I didn't always have to think about labour and gave my husband a little break as well. My labour was well over 24 hours and Meaghan stayed with me through the night and even stayed awhile after baby was born! Meaghan just has a way of making you feel calm.

We were so thankful for Meaghan as we prepared to meet our little one, went through labour and delivery, and navigated the postpartum world. She was a wealth of knowledge and was so kind and calming. It was always easy to get in touch with her if we had questions, and she was always on time and ready to jump in and help however she was needed. The information that she provided us with was invaluable. We’d definitely recommend Meaghan and would certainly have her as our doula again!

Meaghan is absolutely amazing! At the time of my pregnancy there was floods and snow and all kinds of hurdles but she made a way to overcome all of them and support us. She helped me make a plan unique to my own expectations. When it came down to labour and delivery she was not only an amazing support to me but also my boyfriend. She is VERY personable, I didn’t feel like she was just doing a “job” she was very in tune and caring about all aspects of our delivery journey . I’d highly recommend her to anyone expecting in the future!

Meaghan is just amazing. She helped me through my second birth and it was truly a night and day difference. Having that extra support was priceless. Even my healing after my second emergency C-section went better because my birthing process was no where near as stressful. I would recommend Mountain Mama Doula to every pregnant mama who is even considering hiring a doula. Do it, you won't be sorry.
